Technical Project Manager - Telematics – Shinagawa, Japan

Ficus e Logic on behalf of its client in the IT/Engineering Consulting, is seeking a highly technical and execution-driven Technical Program Manager (TPM) to lead the end-to-end delivery of its next-generation telematics software platform. This role is crucial as the connected vehicle ecosystem expands, with the Telematics Control Unit (TCU) serving as a critical gateway between software-defined vehicles and cloud infrastructure. The TPM will orchestrate complex, cross-functional engineering programs, managing dependencies across embedded firmware, cellular hardware, cloud infrastructure, and global OEM/Tier-1 partners.

The successful candidate will define, drive, and deliver complex telematics software roadmaps from concept through architecture, verification, and global production release. Key responsibilities include partnering with Systems Architects and Lead Engineers to review technical designs, evaluate architectural tradeoffs, and resolve deep-seated technical blockers. The role also involves proactively identifying and mitigating cross-functional risks across hardware, embedded software, cloud backends, and external suppliers.

This position requires serving as the primary technical point of contact for internal leadership and external automotive OEM/Tier-1 customers, translating complex engineering metrics into clear, actionable executive updates. The TPM will establish, optimize, and enforce software development lifecycles (SDLC) tailored for automotive systems, ensuring predictable release cadences for Over-the-Air (OTA) updates. A deep understanding of telematics architectures, automotive systems, and compliance with regulatory frameworks like Automotive SPICE, ISO 26262, and ISO/SAE 21434 is essential.
